Hurricanes Harvey and Irma have created unprecedented power outages in the states of Texas and Florida.  Hundreds of thousands lost power on Texas’s Gulf Coast from Hurricane Harvey’s impact August 25th – 29th, 2017. Harvey’s price tag in damages could dwarf previous natural US disasters. Here are some of the stats according to The Weather Channel:

Just as crews are tirelessly working to restore the damage done in Texas, Irma hits Florida over the weekend and the race is on to get power back up and running. According to the state’s emergency management division, as of today more than 6.5 million Florida homes and businesses are without power after Hurricane Irma moved through the state which equates to 62 percent of the state’s power customers.
